Clinton & Mckinzie

I made a cute video of my niece and nephew, the first of many as I recently got a new camera that also shoots HD video! I'm so excited to make little films with it!

If you like cute video's of kids, be sure to go check out Olive Us, they make the most adorable little films! Definitely an inspiration to me right now. :)

Reinforce the stitch that ties us, and I will do the same for you.

Reinforce the stitch that ties us, and I will do the same for you.

I am a lucky girl. Both of my grandmother's are these wonderful, creative, artistic ladies who've had such an influence on my life, I can't even begin to explain, that would probably be a good post for another day. I'll just say that I feel blessed to have grown up with them around.

Today I wanted to share with you all a nice thing I came across when I was hanging out with my grandma Gorman yesterday, looking through a few of her many scrapbooks with her. The quote above is a little note her sister sent to her, my quick Google search tells me it's a quote from someone named Doris Schwerin, but I couldn't find out much about her (no wikipedia page).

My grandma and her sister are both very creative and smart ladies who ran their own businesses, my aunt was a sewing designer who has made some of the most beautiful dresses and quilts, among many other things and my grandma carved beautiful redwood signs for over 30 years. Over the years they have sent each other many cards, notes, letters, and other handmade gifts, and my grandma has kept a little scrapbook full of them, it's adorable.

I want to do more scrapbooking of items I've saved over the years, I just have heaps of things in boxes. Modern day popular scrapbooking doesn't really appeal to me, seems to be all about buying fancy doodads and expensive papers. I like the way my grandma does it, she just cuts things out and glues them to construction paper and slips them into little plastic sleeves and into a 3 ring binder. They are so much fun to look over when I visit with her.

Any of you out there do any scrapbooking? Have any good tips for someone just getting started? Spent any time with your grandma's lately? If not (and if you are lucky enough to have them around) go visit them soon!  :)

Happy things!

Thought I'd put together a list of some things that have been making me happy lately! I hope they make you happy too!

Kurt Vile
Looking for some new tunes? Check out the album Smoke Ring for my Halo by Kurt Vile. It's very good, I've been listening to it nonstop all week. I really love the first track, Baby's Arms. If you click this link to his website you can download the track. The rest of the album is really good too!

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I LOVE kale. To use Mr. T's expression, I pity the fool who doesn't eat kale, or in case of one bad "ten food trends that need to die" list that I read, I pity the fool who doesn't like kale. I don't think it's a trend since I've been loving on it for years. It's tres delish, you can put it in practically every meal, eat it raw, eat it steamed, stewed, baked, you name it! This last week I had kale for breakfast with a poached egg and some Dave's Killer Bread toast, and then I had it with some whole wheat pasta and veggie sauce, and again in some turkey curry soup I made with Christmas day leftovers. There are so many ways to eat kale and it's so yummy and good for you!

The West Wing
Just when I start to think I'm running out of entertaining things to watch on netflix instant view I stumble onto something else cool! The West Wing is pretty great, which I think everyone else already knows since it was pretty popular while it was on and won a bunch of Emmy's, so I know I'm pretty late to the party for this one, ha ha! Anyway on the off chance you have never seen it before either, I will tell you it has some great writing and acting, and I'm loving it so far.

Awakening to 2013
Read this blog post written by my cousin Jenna, she's amazing. She and I share a lot of the same ideals, and sometimes I think I don't live up to them as well as she does, but I'm trying to be better all the time! Anyway she is such an inspiration to me!

Favorite justification seemed to be the easiest thing to keep in mind on the Internet.

Happy New Year! Not gonna do a post about resolutions. Be more healthy, do more awesome stuff. That's about it. Instead I'm gong to post about something Eli and I were cracking up about today. First off, I saw this comment on a blog post about the health benefits of running, as if that even needed to be a blog post?

Undeniably believe that that you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be at the internet the easiest thing to keep in mind of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while other people consider worries that they just don’t realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as well as outlined out the whole thing without having side effect , other people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks

Clearly it's either spam or English translated from another language with an auto translator like Google Translate. I thought it was hilarious, and thought it would be even more funny if I translated this into another language and then back into English. Eli suggested Japanese. Here's what we got:

I believe you're unmistakably said. Favorite justification seemed to be the easiest thing to keep in mind on the Internet. Taking into account the concerns and do not realize they are just about to tell you, other people, because I'm definitely angry. Controls without side effects to you, to strike a nail to the top as outlined all others, it is possible to take the signal. I come back to get a lot probably. Thanks

Anyway we thought this was hilarious. Thanks internet! :)

Here are a few videos of Eli & I's crazy fireworks last night, you're not gonna want to miss these! :P
