Dude. Seriously?

Browncoats: Redemption Trailer from browncoatsmovie on Vimeo.

It don't get much dorkier that this y'all. Serenity fan films. And it looks like they actually put a lot of time and money into this. Impressive or totally geeky? Or both? If this was like, two years ago I would be all over this, sad to say. That was when I was knee deep in Serenity audio dramas, podcasts, dreams. But now, I don't know. I mean, I still love the heck out of it, but I might be past the point where I could enjoy fan fic. Especially after last years Can't Stop the Serenity screening where too many idiots where yelling out non funny things at the screen.

Although I am not beyond playing the Serenity RPG. I just need to get a few willing folks to play with me, and Eli said he'd run the game. Any takers?

if i could turn back time

Things are getting a little bit crazy around here. I need to find something to do with my life, starting now. Definitely by the new year (I can get more into it later). Remember that whole I wanna be a freelance graphic designer/photographer thinger? How do I do that? Help me Rhonda.

So e.coli is in the water. Maybe. We haven't received any word about it from our apartment manager, but the word around the water cooler is that there is poop in the water. And I wanna take a bath, but not in poopie water.

Must work harder on Christmas gifts. I don't have a single one finished yet. My plan was to create all my gifts this year, by knitting or crocheting or whatever. The problem is I think I have tendinitis or arthritis or something old people get. My hands hurt a lot, from work and from computers and from crafting. What is happening to me? I'm only 28, for Pete's sake.

So don't you hate it when technology doesn't work correctly? I have been playing the Sims 3 again a lot this past week (yeah, total time waster I know, but fun fun fun!). So they released an expansion, which I don't have yet (Christmas gift idea!) and they put out a new patch for the game, which is not really 'patching' any problems, in fact it seems to have created more problems for me. It's insane and to the point where I can't even play my game until a new patch comes out. Ticked! I really wanted to take my sim to the top of the Political track! She was doing so good, and now things are all fraked up. It's soo annoying. My game is stuck in this 'moving' limbo where it thinks my characters are moving still but they aren't, it's been like 4 sim days. Usually it takes like 4 sim hours. So things with the Parsons family are going to shit. It's rough. Elizabeth is getting D's in school, I can't pay the bills so the repo man has been by twice, and no body can get any sleep at all, so they are all getting really ticked off. It's rough.

I bought a box of nag champa the other day, and I haven't even sparked one up, but the box is so smelly it sends its fragrance throughout the room anyway. Weird. I love the smell of that stuff, which is funny because I know so many people who hate it. It's a love or hate smell I think.

My book club decided on East of Eden by John Steinbeck for our next book. Eli picked it up for me at Powells last week, for 3.95, yay for used books. I am so into it! It's amazing. I haven't read any Steinbeck since high school, but now I want to go out and read everything he wrote. East of Eden is a monster, like 700 pages or something, but I'm about 300 pages in and it's hard to put it down. The characters are so engrossing, especially ones that you don't even like. Amazing.

After this I think I'm going to attempt to finish the Stand for the 3rd time. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it's so long, and then half way through I usually end up reading something else or forgetting about it. But it's a short term goal to finish that book. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to read in December though. Winter is good for reading. It's dark out at like 4, what are you going to do?

Dinner tonight

Lentils! I sort of did a combo of this recipe and this recipe, and also basically just what I had/wanted to throw in the pot. Well see in 4-6 hours how it turns out! I love having a slow cooker! I'll try to post a review/pictures later.

I saw this video via Meet Me at Mikes, this blog that I follow. It is such a rad song and video! Watch it. You will like it.

Eli and I are a perfect match. We both leave things til the last minute, we are both kind of messy, and we are both hot heads. It's a great combo. I tend to get more hot headed than he does, and then I feel like a jerk. That's what happens when you are acting like a jerk.

At any rate my apartment is in total disarray today. I was just starting to feel like everything was getting into it's right place, and then Eli packs in a bunch of his stuff that was still at his old apartment. Now it's completely non functional, with boxes everywhere. The worst part is Eli has this rad old vintage roll top desk that won't fit through the door into our "office" which means right now it's just hanging out in the middle of the living room. Pretty rad. I don't know what we are going to do with it since it's huge large. But it is really cool looking.

I am really excited about all the book shelves he has though. Like, 4 really tall ones. I'm gonna fill em up with books!!! It's good because I have way more books than book shelf space. We are going to look like super smart people with all the books around. It's gonna be great. Ha.

For fun today I looked up the word stupid on google. A few links down I discovered stupidvideos.com which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. There is this video of this dude almost getting hit by a bus which is pretty crazy. Thank you, internet.

This Weeks Menu

Menu for the week!

I'm totally trying to be fiscally responsible, i.e. not eat out in restaurants and splurging on things at the grocery store when I'm shopping while hungry. I am also trying to avoid wasting food, which, regretfully, happens often in my fridge. What, this bag of lettuce doesn't last a month in the fridge?? That's crazy. But seriously. It is lame to have to throw away food. That is why I am following the lead of a friend and trying this meal planning thinger out. I also really enjoy to cook, and I like to eat too, ha. So the idea of planning out a whole week of recipes is fun to me. Lets see how it goes shall we?

Poached Salmon, Roasted asparagus, salad

Pot Roast, steamed broccoli, rolls

Chicken Fajitas* with corn tortillas

Pork Loin, mashed potatoes

Leftovers or chicken. I bought a whole chicken for fajita making (it is always so much cheaper than buying just breasts). I figure I'll use probably the breasts for fajitas and maybe come up with something easy for the rest, like roasting it. I LOVE roast chicken.

*(I am not linking to a recipe on this one because I may post one of my own later in the week. Fajitas are not really that difficult, and I have a pretty good idea how I'm going to make them totes delicious.)
