Zooey Deschanel

I love love love Zooey Deschanel. She is like my hero or something. So cool. Check out the cd she put out under the name She & Him with M. Ward called Volume 1. She wrote most of the songs and does a few covers, and sings really sweetly, its just cute, and to quote the review on allmusic "Volume One is a kind of magical place where light-'60s pop meets strummy country tunes and candy-coated folk." It's awesome. Perfect for summer. Plus, she's in one of my favorite movies, All the Real Girls, and another of one of my favs, Almost Famous... dang. I have a friend crush on her (you know, where you really want to be friends with someone, different than the regular crush).

The Mummy 3

They made a third Mummy movie? WTF.

These are some things inspiring me today:

Oh to be famous

This has got to be the coolest celebrity news I've read in a while (from IMDB):

Hollywood actor Brad Pitt left his pregnant partner Angelina Jolie at home in France to jet to Italy to watch British rockers Radiohead with his pal Edward Norton.
The two actors - who met on the set of 1999 film Fight Club - were spotted enjoying the concert in Milan, Italy on Wednesday evening.

Ever had a CT Scan?

First off, what is the difference, if any, between a CT Scan and a CAT Scan? Are they the same thing? Cuz I'm no doctor.

So a CT Scan, in my experience, is this like, loop thing that has like, magnets in it or something, and it scans you like an x-ray so your doc can look at your insides, like your ticker, or your breathing machine, you know, so he can diagnose you with some sort of deathly disease, or not.

So before you go through this loop, they stick you in the arm and shoot you up with this warm fluid, that makes you feel all warm from the inside, and you think, dang, this feels weird, and you feel it all over, and you think, hm, maybe I'm peeing (but you aren't), and you get this metal taste in the back of your throat like you just swallowed something off the periodic table. Not a noble gas or anything, more like an alkali metal.

Then they run a couple practice loops to make sure you are really good at sittin' still, so the machine has these little faces on it, and one is like, a smiley face and the other is a face holdings its breath, and they light up as the machine tells you hold your breath, or breath and then you move to and fro through the machine. Then the real thing happens, with the whirling and the magnets and the x-raying of some sort.

And the room is always kinda cold. But sometimes they give you a heated blanket to wear. Which is nice, like, when you go to a restaurant, like a sushi joint, and they give you a hot towel to wash your hands with.

I love you Thom Yorke

I forgot about this Radiohead song. Un-freaking-believable. It's only on their live album, I Might Be Wrong. Don't you love it when you rediscover a gut-wrenching favorite and get obsessed with it all over again? :)

True Love Waits

I'll drown my beliefs
To have you be in peace
I'll dress like your niece
To wash your swollen feet

Just don't leave
Don't leave

I'm not living
I'm just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kitten smile

Just don't leave
Don't leave

And true love waits
In haunted attics
And true love lives
On lollipops and crisps

Just don't leave
Don't leave

Ever feel like this?

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of Freaks

Bleecker Street

It's a long road to Canaan.

I'm kinda sad today.
I think I'm getting the zaps...

P.S.
I miss you
and it's like this dull pain
that's always in my heart.

The River Why

They are making a movie out of one of my favorite novels, The River Why. Which is weird. Also, I haven't read it since high school, so maybe I should read it again. Hm.

Things to not forget about my trip to Scotland/Ireland.

Aberdeen

Sitting in a quiet bar in Aberdeen, a dude walks in all flustered. Some kid just got stabbed! Call the cops. (or he said something to the like, hard to distinguish through thick Scottish accent). A couple people get up to see what the excitement is all about outside, while most of the people stay in their seats. I, of course, stay in my seat, having always had the fear of getting stabbed keeping me glued to my chair. A couple of the old guys sitting at the bar are like muttering something to the like of Fuck 'em, fucking junkies. Sirens are heard in the distance. A couple of people who had gone outside are now back in, unimpressed. He's fine. He's walking around.

Ugh

Bitch Bitch Bitch, Moan Moan Moan
I think I have allergies. That, or a terminal illness. I kid. I hope. I have had this nasty nagging itchy throat thing for like a week now, its almost debilitating. I'll get this itch in my throat that won't go away and I will start coughing and it is a painful cough. Its weird. Then it goes away.

Guilty Pleasure of the Day
I want the new Coldplay album. Its cool when two of your most favorite guilty pleasure bands put out albums (I'm speaking here of Death Cab For Cutie and Coldplay). Sure, they aren't necessarily guilty pleasures, I think I genuinely like them, but I'm kind of embarrassed, at least in certain circles, to like them. I think that's probably the definition of guilty pleasure, right?

Pet Peeve of the Day
So at work we have these cubicle-like stations in a big open room. Under my chair is one of those plastic mats, so that your chair can roll with ease above the carpeted floor. The annoying thing about that is when people cut corners on their way to various places throughout the office and step on my plastic mat. Especially in heels. It's like friggin' nails on a chalkboard. I hate it.

That's all I got. In the words of Grover, When is Saturday?

I had too much Wonka

So I don't really eat a lot of candy, especially compared to some people I know, (Mayhaw... Rachel, to name a few names) but there are a few that I enjoy, usually of the tarty variety. Well today I discovered the most magnificent blend of candies ever put into one bag, called Wonka Chewy Mix-ups. Included are Sweetart Shocker Minis, Chewy Sweetarts Minis, and Chewy Sprees. OMG. Soo good. I just ate the entire bag and now I feel kinda gross but in that I just ate an entire bag of candy way, which isn't the worst gross feeling ever. I highly recommend them.

Why I love Mondays.

Ok, everyone hates Mondays. Boo hoo, it's the start of a new work week, work sucks, blah blah blah. Well here are a couple of reasons I love Mondays.

A. Checking my Last.fm to see my charts for the previous week.
Dang, I listened to a lot of Death Cab last week!

2. Listening to Smodcast.
Typically, there is a new Smodcast, the podcast with Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier, posted on Mondays. Which is funny and entertaining.

D. Getting a bagel and coffee.
I usually don't get coffee on the weekends, so it's always a treat to head into Dog River Monday mornings for my usual cappuchino and everything bagel toasted with butter. Delicious!
Alright kids, what do you like about Mondays?
