Scarves and Snow and Things

It has snowed much since my last post. Getting home from work was a little slow, but not too bad. People in the city really can't handle it when it snows. They pin out. Anywho I finished a scarf I started yesterday. Pretty good deal. I chained like, 15, and then just did the whole thing in double crochet, and then I tied some tassels on the ends. Pretty easy cheesy. Check it out!

First Snow of the Year

Boo yeah! It's snowing. Not a lot, but it's sticking a little bit. Good times.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Took these pics with my phone yo. Check 'em.

Today's Project

Today I'm working on a little hat for my niece. I've been totally slacking on the crafting lately, so I have a lot of work to do if I'm gonna finish everything I started before Christmas arrives. Here is a peek at what I'm working on today.

It's kind of tricky, this yarn is so bulky and textured you can't tell which stitch you are in, but the good side of that is that mistakes are hard to see, so that if you make some it won't be as noticeable as it would be with a smoother yarn.

Good times. They look nice together though.

So today I'm going to go hang out with my old friend Capovilla, and hopefully show him some episodes of Spaced, because that show rules! I think I'll take my konica with me too, haven't taken her out for a while. I have some film I need to use up anyway.

Friday off.

Today has been super productive. I got some coffee at work, yum, and since then have done about 4 loads of laundry, played the Sims 2, watched two episodes of Bones, and an episode of Samantha Who. I love dvr! I wish I had one at home. And a washer and dryer. That would be convenient as well. Luckily I have this rad friend, Windowsmear, who's cat I'm feeding for her while she's off on a Thanksgiving trip, who lets me do a bunch of laundry at her house! Good times.

all i want for christmas is you baby...

Dude, have I mentioned how much I love this time of year? What with the holidays and the rain and the eating of lots of food and the presents and the snow and the turkeys and the fun times and the non stop christmas music on 103.3 Awesome right? Here is a list of some of my favorite christmas hits, right off the top of my head.
Mariah Carey's all i want for christmas
Paul McCartney's simply having a wonderful christmas time
Meh, I can't keep this up. Ok, so I was making a list that in some circles can be called the worst christmas songs ever. Which is sorta true. Can't argue that one. But I will make a list with some more actual thought involved of my actual favorite christmas songs.

I love this guy

Excuse me for a minute, but I have to wax poetical or more like wax teenage girl style about Justin Timberlake right now. He is so awesome! Check out this video from weekend update. So hilarious. I mean really. When is he going to put out a new album already? Sure, sure. Guilty pleasure. I'm sure many of you are just rolling your eyes or perhaps gagging at the mere fact that I'm posting about Justin Timberlake. Again. But really, just let it go and embrace the awesomeness y'all. I don't make fun of you for listening to prog rock, or for liking hamburgers.

Anyway, I gotta go listen to Futuresex/Lovesounds. Check ya laters.

Y'all know that the new Bond movie features a Bond girl name Camille, right? Boo yeah! I can't wait to see Quantum of Solace. It's gonna be so awesome!

Put this on repeat

New favorite song. DLZ by TV on the Radio. On their latest, Dear Science. Go do yourselves a favor and buy it on itunes yo. This song is so awesome. It's gonna be on repeat all day, for a while I'm thinking. On their last album I was all about Dirtywhirl, and the album before that Ambulance, (and of course Staring at the Sun). Their albums are pretty solid, but those tracks are the ones that stick in my brain for days and days and months and years on end. Can't. Stop. Listening to songs I love over and over and over...

Man, I have problems.

What's cookin'?

Tonight I was in the mood to cook. I was thinking about it all afternoon at work. I've got those potatoes at home, I thought. What should I do with them? Roast them, duh! Oh, and you know what would go lovely with potatoes Camille? Some chicken. Boo yeah. So I stopped off at Freddy's on the way home and picked up some chicken, and an issue of like, food network magazine or some such, which had this super delicious looking recipe in it for chicken with apple and onion cider sauce. I was like, dang, that sounds good. It was a very simple recipe, easy to follow instructions. The basics: lightly flour chicken breasts, fry on each side for five minutes, bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees or until done. Meanwhile fry the onion and apple, add a little apple cider vinegar, reduce, add chicken broth, reduce, add some butter. Pour over chicken when done, sprinkle with parsley (I used cilantro, because that's how I roll).

The herb roasted potatoes are so easy, you just rinse 'em, cut them into chunks, throw them in a bowl, toss 'em with olive oil, minced garlic, herbs of your choice, salt, pepper, and roast them on a cookie sheet or a glass dish for like 25 ish minutes at 375 degrees, or until they are soft when pierced with a fork, maybe more time, maybe less. So easy and seriously, so dang delicious. They are good as is, or with gravy, or with ketchup, however you like 'em.

Super easy and fast. I think, with the help of my roomie Ryan (he's an excellent veggie chopper) it took less than an hour to prepare the chicken, herb roasted potatoes, and a nice large side salad.

Yay for delicious!

06 November 2008

It's starting to feel like home around here.

Still some boxes left to unpack, and a few left in my parents basement, but it's coming together nicely.

It'll be great once we actually have a couch, makes for hanging and socializing in the living room rather limited when there is no where to sit.

Really it's just exciting to have all my stuff in one place again. I feel like I've been fragmented for years, and now things are coming together. Good times.

Friendly Fires

Last week I went to a show at the Doug Fir, Lykke Li, and there was this awesome opening band, Friendly Fires, who rocked the frick out and danced their asses of and played hot hot hot music. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys having a good time, or dancing, or doing other cool stuffs. Check out this video:

This song is totally awesome. Anywho, back to the novel. I've only got like, 600 words. And I should have like, 8,000 by the end of the day if I want to stay on target, so, as you can see, I have a lot of writing to do. Until I decide to get distracted again, au revoir ladies and gents!

Good Times

Portland Comic Book Show this Sunday y'all! It's the best little tiny teeny weeny comic book show around! Full of artists I've never heard of, local semi celebs dressed up as your favorite DC characters, and a dude who draws rad pictures of Dragons and another dude who sells Battlestar Galactica memorable Christmas tree ornaments as well as other dudes selling old comics that no one wants to buy! It's gonna be awesome! Don't miss it! Hopefully I'll find something rad for under 5 bucks, because that is my budget this year. Good times.

03 November 2008

So I found out today that a job I interviewed for last week will not be mine. Boo. I was so excited too. I'm just really bummed. But keep on keepin' on, right? It's just so discouraging to go on interviews and then not get jobs. I mean, is there something I am doing in the interview that the person is like, meh, she's no good for us! Or is it just that there are soo many people looking for jobs right now it's like impossible to get one? At least the guy was like, hey, you didn't get the job but would it be cool if I keep your resume on file? I was like, of course, that would be fine. So maybe he liked me second best. Or at least 20th best. Whatever. Back to the craigslistings.

01 November 2008

Dude, I'm doing it this year. National Novel Writing Month. 50,000 words. I'm determined to do it. Yesterday while almost falling asleep and watching some Seinfeld season 2 I came up with my idea and jotted down a few notes. Here's hoping that A. my notes make sense and are legible, and 2. That it is a good idea. Hey, isn't that how Paul McCartney thought of the lyrics for the song Yellow Submarine? That's the rumor anyway.

If you wanna play too, and write a novel in one month, check out the website here, and let's get on it y'all!

Pureed Vegetable Soup

Today has been a pretty lazy day for me, but I thought I would blog about my lunch. I remembered that I had bought a random array of things last week when I made curry, and had many left over ingredients which I thought would lend themselves nicely to some soup. Isn't soup just the best? Espeically this time of year. Ordinarily I wouldn't have pureed it, but I was inspired by all the terrific soups the chef and souschef at Sydney's make so I decided to give it a whirl (get it, a whirl? You know, like in the blender!).

Camille's Left Over Veggie
Pureed Vegetable Soup

1 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic
A couple tablespoons of Olive Oil
4 small potatoes, cut into chunks (I boiled them for 10 minutes so they would cook faster in the soup)
3 or 4 carrots chopped
3 cups of broccoli, chopped
3 cups of kale, chopped
8 cups vegetable broth
1 can of chopped tomatoes, drained
1 can of corn, drained

So first thing, get a big pot, throw in the olive oil, onions, garlic and few pinches of salt over medium heat until the onions are translucentish, like 5 minutes or so.
Then, add your cooked potatoes, carrots, broccoli and kale, and cook that for about 5 minutes more. Next, add your vegetable broth, heat to boiling, and then reduce to simmer. Let that simmer for like 20 minutes, or until the veggies are nice and cooked up. Now add your can of tomatoes and corn. I used canned simply because that was what I had, but if you have freshies, you could probably use those, but that canned veggies work just fine here. Let that simmer another 5 minutes or 10 minutes, and then using a blender or food processor, puree. I found that it was easy to spoon the soup into the blender with a ladle, blend, and repeat until I got all of the soup pureed, since I don't have a food processor or blender large enough to handle the entire soup at once. Now you can return your soup to the pot, and serve it with a garnish of pepper and parsley to taste (I accidentally bought flat leaf parsley last week instead of cilantro so I had some around, but if you don't you could use dried).

And that's pretty much it. Yay. I think I just literally wrote my first recipe. :) I've done a lot of recipes, but this is the first time I've written one down.

In other news I just got a call from the apartment manager and we are approved for our apartment. Boo yeah! We can move in tomorrow. I'm so excited. Good times.

Tuesday musings

No word yet on whether my cousin and I got the apartment we applied for. I hope we hear soon. It is the raddest apartment ever. Two bathrooms, huge windows, green walls, large living room. It's amazing. I can't wait to get settled in and feel like I have a home again. I haven't really felt like home since I moved out of the house on 8th near Powell, which was a long time ago.

I really should be doing something productive today with my day off, but I think I'm going to end up playing the sims 2 and reading for most of the day. I just started The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, and although I'm only 30 odd pages in I'm super into it. I love love love the writing style. Based on the first 32 pages I'm recommending it to all y'all.

13 October 2008

grr. arg.

So I was all excited about something that I was going to blog about, and since my compweeter is so slow and took forever to open this page and let me begin typing in this here box I have forgotten what it was I wanted to blog about in the first place. Arg! And to think I've doubled the amount of ram that I had before, thanks to this one dude I know who works at a mac store. How did people ever get anything done with so little ram?

Is this centered?

Originally uploaded by cleartrampoline

I took this picture of Eli the other day, and I was like, hey, this is a good one, and he was all like, let me see, and I showed him, and then he was all like, yeah, it's ok, but it's off centered. And I'm like, uh, duh, I did that on purpose. Not really a riveting story but a story non-the-less. See, I see things differently through that little viewfinder. Things don't have to be centered y'all. Off center is good. Better. Maybe even best.

OMG I haven't posted in a while

Is it just me or is blogger being a total bee-yotch lately? I've had problems getting on this website quite a few times recently. Blah.

Anyway... so yesterday I played this rad game called Ticket To Ride. Board games are da bomb y'all! Although I need to work on my board game skills, I totally got last place. Four out of four. Poor. It was still super fun. I'm not really that competitive. Mainly because I'm not really super good at anything... I need to find something that I'm good at and totally rule and then school everyone I know. That would be awesome.

Also, Eli and I have been watching mucho MST3K lately. I'm talking like, almost one a day. See, Eli has this machine thing called a compweeter, and it sends secret MST3K messages to this other machine called an xbox 360, or maybe it called something else, like a wii, or like a playstation, who the hell knows, but anyway that machine sends secret MST3K messages to the television, and then we watch it and laugh and laugh and laugh. It's awesome. Yesterday we watched that one where the dude has some stone and then has to go to some other dude's place and then there is this girl who dies but she has a twin sister, I mean, convoluted hilarious stuff. Really.

07 October 2008

Does it look like I'm having fun Scully?

I'm bored and tired of looking for an apartment and it's like my Friday (only more like Saturday since I have one day off) and it kind of sucks because for the rest of the world it's like Tuesday, you know, which is like boring. Ugh.

Mulder is so jaded in this episode of the X Files season 5 that I'm watching, which is just adding to my whole discouraged feeling today. Grr.

And I was in such a good mood this morning. What a difference a day makes. Quick, what's gonna cheer me up? Mayhap an episode of Gilmore Girls? Or a bottle of Pinot? Or hanging out with a friend? Petting a kitten? Going to the mall?

Anybody watch Supernatural tonight? Oh, right. You were too busy watching boring stuff like the VP debates and whatnot. But yeah. Supernatural was good. Got some nice back story on the ol' Winchester family. Pretty exciting stuff.

In other news, I've been catching up on some of Battlestar Galactica season 4, which has been super fun. That show is sooooooo rad. It makes me crazy. I can't wait to see how it all ends. That crazy gal who is the presidents assistant, Tori, dang. She is one of those characters you just love to hate. So terrible. I can't believe she killed Cally. Crazy man. She is one nutty cylon.

So I used to have the weekends off, and now I have Tuesday and Wednesday off, which is kind of hard to get use to. It's strange. Monday is my Friday.

Dude, it's October already. WTF?

Dude, I know I've been super lazy today, waking up at 11:30 and all, playing the Sims 2 all day and all, but shoot. That's what you're supposed to do on your day off right? I actually did get something done today, I found a couple of good leads on apartments on craigslist, I did some laundry, I made coffee. Ok, maybe making coffee doesn't could as productivity, but it's something. If only Passions was still on I would be watching it right now. I miss that show. For the love of Nancy why did they cancel it?!?! Anyone? Anyone?

You know what's awesome? Locking your keys in your car.
Actually. That isn't awesome. But it is awesome when you know someone who is super rad (yeah, Eli, you're super rad) and can, with some magical voodoo (some call it a wire coat hanger, others call it math), get your door open so said keys can be rescued without the hassle of say, paying locksmiths or driving to a friends house for a spare key, or, god forbid, make your sister drive all the way from hood river to unlock it.

Ok, no more forays into politics for me. I got nothing. I don't read... enough. Someone, anyone, do all my thinking for me, and just tell me what to do, and I'll just watch re-runs of the X Files and paint portraits of kittens and my friends. That's more fun.

P.S. How the hell is ER still on tv? WTF!

Dang Matt Damon, thanks for scaring the shit out of me.

Sure, he's just an actor, but I think he vocalizes some things in this video that I have been thinking about myself. This is like that commercial, where the real person is sitting there and the celebrity translates for them. Thanks to Gloria for posting this on her myspace blog. I just had to repost it though.

links and things

Let me see how many links and random (or are they?) photos I can put in one post...
Dude, I'm not really one for watching a lot of cartoons. Ok, that's kind of a lie. I could spend all day watching old Looney Tunes and old Disney cartoons, although I usually don't. But I'm now referring to cartoons of the adult variety, and I don't mean dirty cartoons, get your head out of the gutter kids, I mean, you know, like cartoon network adult swim cartoons, The Simpsons, South Park etc. I mean, I like a little Aqua Teen Hunger Force here and a little Space Ghost Coast to Coast there, but that's about it. Until recently, that is, in which I was introduced to The Venture Bros by Sara and Chad. Hilarious. "I'm practicing being a boyfriend, pop!" Soo funny. Anyway yeah. I think it's probably still like, eh, I'll watch it when it happens to be on but I prolly won't go out of my way to see it, etc. I just can't get that excited about cartoons for some reason.

I am having too much fun out here in the 'burbs staying with my bff Windowsmear aka Sara. It's so nice, what with the cable, and the internet, and the comfy bed, and the central air. Damn you suburbs! Why are you so comfortable! I never wanna leave! I have always had this sick love affair with the 'burbs (as well as with the hit Tom Hanks film The 'burbs). I blame it on that movie and on Edward Scissorhands too, and there is totally a house in this 'burb that is like right outta that movie.

So apparently I have too many websites. According to some people. But you know what I say to that though? BFD. Cuz that's how I roll.

That's enough for now. I guess. I'm gonna go watch some X Files or something.

Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

I've been seeing quite a few movies in the theater lately, thanks to internet boy. Last night was a total stinker though. Written and directed by the same people who wrote and directed the 1999 film Bangkok Dangerous, which, according to imdb, sounds far more interesting than the ridiculous and boring Americanized version one I saw last night starring a gross looking Nicolas Cage. They really went over the top trying to make the film look really nice, and forgot about other important parts of film making, such as story, plot, entertainment. Total stinker.

Burn After Reading

Alright, what day was that? Wednesday I think, that I saw Burn After Reading, the latest film from the Coen Brothers. Another one of them star studded casts, Tilda, Brad, George, John, Francis. You know. Heavyweights. This film was rad! Hilarious, with some of that brutal violence that you are never quite expecting but expect from the Coen Brothers. Good times. Go watch it. Brad Pitt is hilarious in this movie.

Righteous Kill

Saw Righteous Kill on Sunday. Starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, oh, and Donnie Walberg and John Leguizamo. So, you know, star studded cast. Good acting, but it just kinda felt like, heh, haven't we seen this cop movie before? Nothing too surprising, and it was trying to be surprising, I think, but it wasn't. Nothing surprises me anymore since The Usual Suspects I guess. Al Pacino was pretty great though. That guy can act!

18 September 2008

I'm tired. But I missed my sleep window, which was around midnight. So now I can't fall asleep. Boo. But it's all ok, because I have tomorrow off, and I'm sleeping in a real live bed tonight (courtesy of windowsmear). I gotta find me an apartment like, yesterday. couching with friends is only fun for so long. I don't ever want to outstay my welcome with anyone. I wanna leave 'em beggin' for more. :) Here's a rad pic of Megan and her dog Peabody i took yesterday:

And here's a pic of some lights through a screen window. They're purty. I like lights.

That's just a sneak peak. I've got more lights up my sleeve.
Oh, and p.s. I saw Burn After Reading today. Pretty hilarious. Strange. F-ed up. You know, everything you expect from a Coen Bros movie. Good times.

Damn. I'm all depressed 'cause I just read a really bad review of the Shaky Hands new album. I won't post a link to it here, because I don't want to spread that bile hateful shit, but suffice to say he is wrong, oh so wrong.

Song of the Day

Ignore the slide show vid, just listen to the song. I've had a long love affair with this song, stemming back to the summer E. Bailey got married... what year was that? I'm so bad with time and placing things within it. But this song is good. Really good. And I have been and am going to be listening to it all day. You should do the same.

Is it fall yet? I'm wearing long sleeves and a scarf because it was cold this morning, but I'm sure it will be hot later, in which case I will roll up the sleeves and take off the scarf. But I can't wait til it's proper scarf weather all day long. I love scarves. :)

State of Being

This is my headspace right now:

Pedro the Lion - Magazine

This line is metaphysical
And on the one side, on the one side
The bad half live in wickedness
And on the other side, on the other side
The good half live in arrogance
And there's a steep slope
With a short rope
This line is metaphysical
And there's a steady flow
Moving to and fro

Oh, look you earned your wings
Are you an angel, now
Or a vulture
Constantly hovering over
Waiting for a big mistake

Oh, my God, what have I done?
Oh, my God, what have I done?

Wouldn't you love to be
On the cover of a magazine?
Healthy skin, perfect teeth
Designed to hide what lies beneath

I feel the darkness growing stronger
As you cram light down my throat
How does that work out for you
In your holy quest to be above reproach?

The Shaky Hands new album Lunglight comes out today y'all! Go buy it here so my friend M. Hoons doesn't have to be a dish washer for the rest of his life! I guarantee it is radical! You won't be disappointed. My favorite tracks are We Are Young, World's Gone Mad, and Show Me Your Life. Oh yeah, and You're the Light. Dang, the whole thing is good. Good good stuff.
P.S. And the song Wake the Breathing Light. Soo good. :)

This is why I don't have a dog

Zeke is my brother's dog, who often sleeps in my room, sometimes on my bed (I have a special Zeke blanket so he doesn't mess with the beauty that is my bed). He's nice to have around, and I'll admit I was beginning to feel a little sad about moving and not being able to hang out with him anymore (as well as my lovely other roomies Zack, Raine, and baby Mckinzie and the other dog of the house Red). Well, Zeke made it a little easier for me to leave him when this morning around 5 am he decided to do the most disgusting thing a dog could possibly do in my room. I won't bore (or disgust) you with the details, but I will say this: How I managed to clean that shit up without vomiting at 5 am is a miracle. Gross gross gross.
Thanks Zeke!

This is where I wear my heart.

Dude, it's Jonathan Taylor Thomas' birthday. What ever happened to that guy? I just hope he's safe and alive, I've mentioned it before on this blog, but I worry for the child actors, cuz, you know, they get all depressed and shit when they aren't famous anymore, so I gotta spread the good vibrations towards them. Don't pull a Jonathan Brandis! Seriously.
And if JTT wants to come back to tv, that would be rad. I heart you JTT!

It's electrifyin'!

You're the one that I want!

It's Monday y'all. I have officially less than a week left at my current job, which means that I have to blog a ton a ton a ton, because who knows when I'll get the chance, the future is so up in the air, in a good way though. :) I'm excited.

And I had one of the raddest weekends ever.

Friday I got to hang out with some of my favorite peeps (Meg and Robb), went to a cool restaurant/pub that I had never been to (Produce Row) and got to see one of my favorite bands (TV on the Radio).

Saturday I got to hang out with my internet boy (Eli) at a cool place I've always wanted to go to (Japanese Gardens) and then hang out again with a fore mentioned favorite peeps and go see another one of my favorite bands (The Shaky Hands).

Sunday I went to the mall, a popular haunt of internet boy and I, where we went to the coolest stores in the mall (Marshall's & Ross) (sarcasm), met up with my friend Windowsmear (Sara), went over to her house to eat pizza and watch The Venture Bros. with her hubby (Chad), and then saw the best Batman movie ever (The Dark Knight) for the second time in theaters.

Good good times all around. I love you Portland! See you soon!

I saw these guys once. RAD.

Must. Kill. Time. For. One. More. Hour.

Dang. I was going to embed a Justin Timberlake video from youtube on here, but apparently he's too cool to let people blog his videos. Lame. I really wanted to share Lovestoned/I think she knows Interlude with y'all. Thwarted. That's a good word... thwarted. I likey. Anyway I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's like the new Michael Jackson. I know, not an original thought. But one I can get behind. I was cracking up when I saw this picture of him:

A. Wet t-shirt? I thought that was like a slutty girl thing? 2. He can't play the guitar, can he? Then why is he carrying one around like that, and p.s. water + guitar = ruined guitar. Duh.

I'm in a really good mood right now (sarcasm) and I just read an article about the Shaky Hands in the Willamette Week, which, you know, yay, but I can't be excited about it because there is a hair on my ipod and I have an entire week left in this heckhole and I forgot to take my 'loft yesterday. I'm getting jittery jangly zaps and there ain't shit to be done about it except listen to Nirvana (because yes, they rule!) and drink a lot of coffee.

Ok, listen to the song Loosen Up by the Shaky Hands - oh wait, you can't! That album isn't out yet. Instead, look at this picture of 7 dudes, that's right, 7, on motorcycles riding in a cage that I took at the circus last week. AWESOME!
