I muse on music

So remember when I was saying I was going to get into surf music? Like really get into it, like buy a bunch of cds and lps and listen to it like non-stop and become a surf expert? That plan kind of fell though somewhere, I don't remember. Anyways I was thinking about that today after having this idea that I'm going to get into garage. I mean, really get into garage, like buy a bunch of garage cds and lps and you know, become an expert in garage, kind of like the good old days, like how I was once a super expert in all things Beatles, anyways that's besides the point, so I was thinking about getting into garage, and then I rememberd my failed attempt at getting into surf and decided I should start small, you know, listen to some stuff here and there. So... here I will listen to Paul Revere and the Raiders, the song is "Just Like Me" hm, that's good... and there I will listen to The Sonics, the song is "Psycho" and, hm, them's good too. And then before you know it, I'll wiggle my nose and be knee deep and swimmin' in the garage.

STEPHEN KING BREAKS NEW GROUND AT MARVEL WITH ORIGINAL COMIC SERIES BASED ON HIS EPIC

Marvel Comics to launch first issue in April 2006
Premium hard cover collection of the first six issues to be released in Holiday 2006

Spring 2006---Stephen King and Marvel Comics join forces to launch a ground-breaking new comic book series adapted from King’s magnum opus, The Dark Tower. King’s unparalleled storytelling power will provide old and new stories that delve into the life and times of the young Roland.

“As a lifelong fan of Marvel comic books, and as an adult reader who’s seen comics “come of age” and take their rightful place in the world of fantasy and science fiction,” says Stephen King. “I’m excited to be a part of Roland’s new incarnation.”

The series will be illustrated by Eisner-award winning artist Jae Lee.

“My life changed overnight when I learned I'd be working with Stephen King!” exclaims Jae Lee. “I know how special The Dark Tower series is to him. I'm incredibly honored that he would allow me to be a guest in his world.”

Keep checking Marvel.com for more information on one of the biggest projects in 2006. And be on the lookout for free bookmarks featuring the exceptional art of Jae Lee, at comic book shops and bookstores nationwide this holiday season.

This is straight from the Stephen King Newsletter (that I dorkily, if that is a word, am a reciever of). This sounds cool as cucumbers. And looks cooler than cucumbers.

Morning Song

Love set you going like a fat gold watch.
The midwife slapped your footsoles, and your bald cry
took its place among the elements.

Our voices echo, magnifying your arrival. New statue.
In a drafty museum, your nakedness
Shadows our safety. We stand round blankly as walls.

I'm no more your mother
Than the cloud that distils a mirror to reflect its own slow
Effacement at the wind's hand.

All night your moth-breath
Flickers among the flat pink roses. I wake to listen:
A far sea moves in my ear.

One cry, and I stumble from bed, cow-heavy and floral
In my Victorian nightgown.
Your mouth opens clean as a cat's. The window square

Whitens and swallows its dull stars. And now you try
Your handful of notes;
The clear vowels rise like balloons.

Invasion

Invasion is the show that is on after lost. "this is just like deliverance" is the quote for tonight's episode. This show is funny, intriguing, and riddled with all of that 'oh gee dad, what is happening and what is going to happen next?' stuff. Check it out.

Google Me

I just did something I heard about on NPR the other day. I googled my name. At first it was kind of funny, oh Dr. C. from Florida, blah blah blah C. in Sheboygan, but after a while I was like, hm, is there actually anything online that mentioned me by name? ME??? But alas, after reading something like 25 pages of results I came up empty handed, which for some reason is good, and bad. Good because that means no one can look me up and steal my identity over the information superhighway, but bad in the sense that it means I really haven't done anything with my life thus far. No Articles in papers with my name in the by line, no pages about my wonderful singing or my painting and trumpet playing like all those other C. out there in the world who are actually doing something noteworthy. I better get on it, eh? What the f is my scene? I'm not sure. But I'm gonna figure it out, I am. And maybe the next time I google my name I'll come up with something that's actually about me.

Go rent it today. PS. James Marsters of Buffy fame is on the show this season (the main reason I decided to rent the past seasons). Boy do I have some catching up to do!

Serenity

So I saw this link on whendonesque.com, so if I can't convince anyone to get into one of my new obessions, then maybe this review can. Seriously folks, go see Serenity. It's so good, and I know you may be thinking, "but wait C., I never saw the show Firefly, I'm going to be so confused!" well I'll tell you what, you don't have to see the show to know what's going on in the movie, of course, it helps and makes some of the little things more understandable or funny, like you're in on some private joke, but yeah, you will enjoy it anyways. Seriously! It is good. Friends, you will like it.
